The Wizard of Odd: Shotgun Weddings

.........Talk about theme weddings! Yowza!!.........

Looking for great cake mishaps I came across some crazy cake toppers.  One cake topper led me to look into the ceremony behind it and I found a plethora of some serious redneck lovin' goin' on!

That kid looks super thrilled.

Interesting choice of photo editing.

The cake is incognito.

The reception dinner was the freshest there has ever been.

No shoes, no shirt, no........just no.

And that concludes another journey with the Wizard through the Land of Odd.  I think I just threw up a little.

The Biggest Thing To Happen.....

.........to such a small town.

There is a major factor in the entertainment industry that many people forget about.  No matter how talented entertainers are, without this there would be no Hollywood studios, no radio, no Broadway and no professional sports.  It is the fans of any kind of entertainment.

Yes, fans is usually a term for attendees of sports games, but it goes for any kind of entertainment.  You have your big fans who camp outside all night to try and get into a theatre for the first night of a movie release.  They wait in line with their smart phones so that if they don't make it to the box office before a game or a concert is sold out they can purchase over the internet.  They work hard and most make on the lower scale of average income.  Fans save and spend their hard earned money so that they can go to the movies, purchase songs, see a Broadway show, watch their favorite sport in person, pay for  cable and televisions so they can watch their favorite shows.  These people, who thankfully are fans of something, are what pays the salary for the entertainers and everyone involved.  Yes, advertisers pay money which contributes largely to most venues.  But if there weren't fans, advertisers would not have anyone to pay attention to their ads. Fans are what keeps a person, group, team, studio and the like afloat.  A person cannot be successful in entertainment without fans.  People who stick with them from beginning to end and all the fans who join in between.

I saw proof of the importance and power of fans this past year.  I was amazed at how much support for one person's talent came out of so many people.  It still does.  The fans are still here. Talking, messaging, tweeting, facebooking, blogging and voting in online polls.  They do this because they are excited for an album release from a guy they find posessing one if not all of the following qualities:  wonderfully talented, handsome, kind, hard working, thankful, humble, and very appreciative to and for his fans.  I believe he is all of these things.  Which is why his loyal and adoring fans from all over the globe worked on forming watch parties, facebook and twitter campaigns and getting in every vote they possibly could to further him in the pursuit of his dream.  A dream that seems simple, but truly is very hard to achieve.  The dream to make a living at doing what you love and being able to do it as long as you live.  Because nothing else would make you completely happy with life.  Casey James' fans have helped him, and are still helping him, to achieve that.

So let's go back and take a look at some videos from the day that the biggest thing happened to a small town.  The day that Casey James, an American Idol finalist, came home to Millsap.

Special thanks to filmmaker Tony Proctor of Slow Tilt Films in Fort Worth who so very nicely obliged when I asked him to come video and edit Casey's performance in Millsap.

The above and below videos were recorded and edited by Tony Proctor.

And now thank you to all of the fans for the YouTube video posts.  Without you all, this would have never been possible.

Fan videos from his D/FW appearances!!

AND NOW VIDEOS OF THE FANS LOVE AND SUPPORT.  YOU GUYS ARE FANTASTIC!  I LOVE THESE FAN VIDEOS!!!!

Like this one, so cute!

And now a message from Casey I'm sure all you fans have seen!

Wizard of Odd: A Love Story In Cake

................................What better way to say 'I Love You' or 'I Didn't Finish Elementary' or 'I Really Don't Like You'.........

Today is round 2 of our journey through the land of the Wizard of Odd.  You will see pictures of pretty cakes, not so nice cakes and you will even read a love story complete with pictures!

Anyone who can bake a cake could easily make some of these cakes. You don't even need instructions on how to decorate it. The pictures are explanation enough. Yet, a few of these cakes may require explanation to the person it is given to about why the maker is so rude, vain and completely clueless.

First, a few mistakes with a little dash of creepy and then on to our love story.

This cake obviously took talent and smarts.  Hannibal Lecter was smart, too.  Whoever this was baked for.....run away.

Two words.......spell check.

I've seen a horsefly.  I've seen a house fly.  But I have never seen poo fly...with wings.

'LOVE & CAKE'

Once upon a time, there was a girl who loved to bake.

Her favorite thing to bake was Valentine's Day treats.

She baked cakes, cupcakes, cookies and dipped snacks in candy.

For Valentine's Day she made a cake for her love.

Her love decided to make her a cake in return.  Upon receiving his gift the girl was very upset to discover how vain he truly was.

So she baked him a cake hoping to bring him back to reality.

He was angry thinking she may have had very many loves before him to use for comparison.  So he hid a message for her to find.

*CAN YOU FIND THE MESSAGE HIDDEN BELOW?*

The girl found his message and sent him a bigger one in return.

Sensing that their realtionship could be in danger, he sent her an edible question.  In return she answered and sent it back.

At that moment he chose to bake the girl another treat decorated with the words she said he never spoke enough.

When the girl saw this she smiled out of satisfaction not forgiveness.  She didn't feel that he truly meant it, nor that he had learned a lesson about his vanity.  She could never be with someone more in love with himself than with her.  The girl sent him her final message........

.........and he sent her his.

Thus concludes our second journey through the the blog of the Wizard of Odd.  I hope you all enjoyed my love story.  I sincerely hope your Valentine's Day is the complete opposite!

Wizard of Odd: Cake Bloopers & Disasters

.........Seriously? You really thought this through?........

As an amateur cake decorator I find these odd, funny, offensive and lazy.  They make me smile, and at times sick to my stomach.  I would imagine one or two of these cakes caused the receiver to give a thank you in the form of a flaming bag of poo.  How would you like to receive one of these hot messes?

Is this cake referring to a chore we don't like or the "I'm so wasted" thing?

I knew it!  Now here is the Ridgemont High graduation cake.

Whoever fixed this cake attended the weeding from the top cake.

How much is that decapitated doggie in the window? Everybody now!

Wait, fatherhood?  Two guys? Father Satherhood is really progressive.

What a crappy beach.

Here are some special flip flops to walk on said beach.

The thought process behind this cake was the disaster.  Excuse me while I hurl.

This is the cake that followed when the above person realized they were lacking a brain.

.................

................................Why yes.  Yes, you are.  More than words can say.

And this my friends is where our first journey through the Wizard of Odd comes to an end.  Be sure to join me next time readers.  There is no telling what we might find next.

Ever Seen 'The Shining"?

.........I am starting to relate to Jack Nicholson..........

As an actor I love learning how other actors get into character.  What do they do?  What do they think of?  What is there inner object?  Who and/or what is their replacement?  Do they stay in character for hours? Days? Weeks?  So many are so convincing and absolutely believable that I would think they actually lived as their character.  If that is the case,  I think I can totally do a monologue from 'The Shining' right now!

In my area of Texas we are now into the fourth consecutive snow day.  I don't mean the fourth day it has snowed.  I mean the fourth day that the schools have been closed along with many businesses.  The fourth day of being cooped up in the house with a husband, 3 kids, 2 cats and 1 dog.  I currently home school two of our children so having them all day is not a problem, it is a blessing.  However, we are at least able to run errands, go to the library, visit my granny and I can go to work for a 1/2 day after their lessons.  But this week there won't be any of that.  Because while the snow is beautiful it is also accompanied by ice.

In fact the first "snow" was really just ice.  There was proof of that on the faces of my kids.  They threw "snowballs" at each other and the wind was blowing hard and the "snow" was hitting their faces.  That "snow" was actually pretty white pieces of ice that literally left tiny, tiny cuts on my 11 year old daughters face.  At least today there really was an absolutely beautiful snowfall.  My husband thought maybe it could provide traction over the layer of ice.  He was proven wrong when he slowly made his way to the pharmacy and busted his rear getting out of his truck.  Luckily he was holding onto the truck door and didn't hit the ground with full force, but he definitely tweaked some back muscles.  On the bright side the sun is shining brightly and even with freezing temperatures the ice seems to be melting in some areas.

Things are looking like we will be able to leave our houses tomorrow and safely travel.  For now, I will continue to listen to my children bicker, my dog growl, my cats tackle each other, watch tufts of cat hair float through my house and cleaning until my almost insane mind is completely lost.  If we were all absolutely honest with ourselves, most of us have gotten what we have asked for.  Remember saying things like: "I need a break." "If I could have just a few days off I could catch up on my house." " I just want a day or two to do nothing but read and relax."  "For once, I want to be able to sleep late and watch movies for a couple of days."  "I am looking forward to a day to do nothing."  Well, we definitely have had more than a couple of days to do all that!

If I really think clearly about this I would realize that four days with my husband and children is actually a blessing.  It honestly is because what other time am I going to have to spend all of my time around them without having to run errands, go to the grocery store, go to classes, work or run them to piano for four whole days?  I don't believe that will ever happen again in my lifetime.  So instead of going all "Jack" on everyone in my house, I am going to smile and thank God for this blessing of uninterrupted time I have had with my family.  The cats however, may need to go outside.

Teskey's: So Much More Than a Ranch Store

.......Walk in and smell the leather.  Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.........

People from all over the world shop at Teskey's Saddle Shop & Bootique, literally.  Not only because customers can shop with Teskey's via their website, but because they drive long distances just to take a look at the 80,000 square foot store.  Their website has many items that a wide array of people would enjoy.  Things such as saddles, spurs, toys, ropes, knives, chaps, English and Western riding supplies, a bootique and so much more.  The store has considerably more than the website and is quite impressive.

Their Bootique includes boots, clothing, cowboy hats, home decor and so much more.  Their boots are from suppliers such as, but not limited too, Lucchesse, Old Gringo, Justin, Corral, Ariat, Rios of Mercedes and Anderson Bean.  Their clothing ranges from casual and dress western wear to fashion wear as well as workwear for men, women and children.  Their website and store also have a wide range of items in their clearance sections.  Teskey's also has a feed barn and a whole lot of ranch and animal supplies.

You can also follow Teskey's on their Facebook and Twitter pages.  Head on out to their Weatherford location for a some great shopping and a slice of MiMi's homemade buttermilk pie.  If you don't have time to head to the country then stop by Teskey's Uptown in downtown Fort Worth.  That location may not have a cafe, but they do have great clothes and plenty of eateries nearby!

For those of you unable to make it to either location due to yours make sure you check out their website!
