In the Words of Marcus Aurelius

Words. That's it. Just words. Words have the ability to lift up and tear down. They bring happiness and tears, joy and sorrow. Every emotion known to man can be used to describe the things that we say. I love words. I love quotes, poems, books, lyrics, speeches, plays, all of it. Words that others have written and said are what I use when I need inspiration, motivation, comfort and support. Words are also what we use to help people we love. We give them cards, stories of encouragement, bible verses, books, and we repeat words by others  we have found to help ourselves in a time of need. Words are simply powerful and there are a plethora of people and books that make me think "Yes! This is exactly what I need right now!" Today, I would like to share wisdom found in the words of Marcus Aurelius.

BE THANKFUL

"When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive - to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love." ~ Marcus Aurelius

DO NOT WORRY

Never let the future disturb you. You will meet it, if you have to, with the same weapons of reason which today arm you against the present.

GIVE

"The wealth which you will keep forever is the wealth you have given away."

BE POSITIVE

"Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking."

"Our life is what our thoughts make it."

"The happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts: therefore, guard accordingly, and take care that you entertain no notions unsuitable to virtue and reasonable nature."

"The soul becomes dyed with the color of it's thoughts."

NEVER GIVE UP

"Because your own strength is unequal to the task, do not assume that it is beyond the powers of the man; but if anything is within the powers and province of man, believe that it is within your own compass also."

"Execute every act of thy life as though it were thy last."

BE YOU

"Be content with who you are, and wish not change; nor dread your last day, nor long for it."

"Be content to seem what you really are."
